Amsterdam, part 6

Off to Heineken, then, for a "brewery experience." Heineken's actual brewery has moved and the old brewery now functions as a tourist museum/experience. The history was great, as was the vintage advertising. Along the tour, they had mini-pubs set up where you could take in some free Heineken samples. Good stuff. Lots of green neon, if I remember correctly.

With our side trip to Amsterdam finished, it was time to depart for Mannheim and USA match #2 in Kaiserslautern against one of the best teams in the world: Italy.

Amsterdam, part 5

Next up, a trip to the world famous Heineken Brewery Tour.

Amsterdam, part 4

It wasn't all beer and canals, though. We did manage to take in some great culture. I'm pretty sure we visited the Van Gogh Museum (I have a picture of it), and I know we went to the Rijksmuseum (featuring "a magnificent selection of Dutch paintings from the Golden Age") and the Anne Frank House, which was really amazing. No photos allowed inside, unfortunately.

The city had a general arts district, which was gorgeous to just walk around.

The Van Gogh Museum:

The wonderful, extensive, expansive, and exhaustive Rijksmuseum, including a grainy photo of "The Night Watch," one of Rembrandt's most famous works; so famous that the museum dedicates an entire room and light show to it.

The Anne Frank House; remodeled, obviously:
